New Board Chair’s Message June 2024

Jun 24, 2024 | Industry News

I am extremely excited and honoured to represent ACEC-SK as your new chair for 2024-2025.  Our industry is of significant importance to this beautiful province and country.

This past year has been one of change both internal to our Association and abroad.  Our staff have been busy doing amazing things to update and modernize our Association to ensure its flexibility and resilience for many years to come.  Two new committees were created and populated including the Governance Committee and the Finance Committee.  These committees will streamline our regular board meetings allowing us as a Board to get more out of our precious time.

As I look forward to the coming year, I expect we will continue to see a lot of change.  Change is ever-present and is something to be embraced.  We will continue to see change in ACEC-SK to ensure we stay current but perhaps the more significant changes in the coming year will be seen politically.

We will see significant change to our Provincial Government in the coming election and with the stepping away of many longstanding MLA’s.  This year we should also anticipate significant change in our municipalities as those elections are also slated for the fall.  We could also see a federal election before the fall of 2025 but perhaps also noteworthy is what will happen south of the border as we know our southern neighbours play a huge role in the economics of this Province and this country.

Whatever the case may be with the potential political changes we may see, ACEC-SK and our exceptional members will be there, we will be ready, and we will continue to serve both public and private enterprise to help foster growth and prosperity for all.

We are fortunate to be able to live and work in this beautiful province and are so very thankful to our ancestors that cared for this place before us.  We are blessed to have significant diversity in our abundant resources as well as our industries from manufacturing to tourism, from abundant resources to agriculture and more.  Our province is rich in the diversity of its people, their knowledge and our commodities.  Let’s continue to support our neighbors and celebrate our accomplishments.

Our board is strong with a diverse cross section of skills and experiences.  I look forward to working with them to better serve our members and our Association for the coming year and encourage those interested in talking about our challenges and success to contact me.

Always stay humble and kind.
